Anseve African Art & Collectables is founded on lived heritage, careful discernment, and a deep respect for Africa’s rich artistic legacy. Established in 2026 by Ms. Anna Maria Scheepers, a Namibian of Dutch and Khoisan lineage, the company reflects an authentic connection to Africa’s land, cultures, and people.
Growing up in a culturally diverse nation with more than ten distinct ethnic groups, Ms. Scheepers developed an early fascination with her mother’s cultural history and traditional values. This upbringing nurtured a lifelong appreciation for African artistic expression and the stories embedded within it.
After several years in retail, she shifted her focus to African artifacts — not simply as objects of commerce, but as vessels of history, craftsmanship, and identity. Through hands-on experience, she cultivated a discerning eye that values quality over quantity, recognizing that true artistry can be found even in the simplest forms. A carved wooden cup, for example, may quietly reveal the skill, balance, intention, and heritage of its maker — qualities often absent in mass-produced items.
Anseve carefully curates traditional African artifacts including masks, figures, fetishes, spears, shields, neckrests, musical instruments, communication drums, and jewelry. Many of these pieces originate from ritual and ceremonial contexts where function and symbolism unite to express human experience, memory, spirituality, and continuity. These works are not merely decorative; they are cultural expressions shaped by knowledge passed down through generations.
For collectors and enthusiasts alike, these rare artifacts offer both cultural significance and enduring value. Each piece represents authenticity, craftsmanship, and heritage — preserving traditions while offering meaningful connections to Africa’s artistic past.
